The Maharaja Jawat Singh II reigned from 1873 to 1895. In 1875 he was awarded the most exalted order of the Star of India and made Knight Grand Commander (G.C.S.I). 

In the last quarter of the 19^th century the family took to polo, pig-sticking and horse racing and became a force to be reckoned with.
