18 Karat Gold, Emerald and Diamond Brooch, Van Cleef & Arpels

The stylized flowerhead centered by a cabochon emerald weighing approximately 40.00 carats, accented by 15 smaller cabochon emeralds weighing approximately 6.00 carats, accented by round diamonds weighing approximately 13.90 carats, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered NY 40705; fitted with retractable pendant loop; circa 1970.

In good condition. The center cabochon emerald is a medium-deep slightly bluish green, translucent and moderately to heavily included with examples of surface-reaching inclusions evident under close inspection. The other cabochon emeralds are medium to medium-deep bluish green, one emerald much darker in tone than the others, and moderately to heavily included with evidence of fractures and cavities throughout. The diamonds are approximately G-H color, predominantly VS clarity. Gross weight approximately 29 dwts. Signed on the pinbridge, approximately 3 inches in length.
