Condition

Overall in very good condition. This chair has been recently professionally cleaned and waxed. This chair presents with a warmer tone overall than what appears in the catalogue illustration. This work represents a portion of a larger collection of Robsjohn-Gibbings furniture on offer in this auction that was acquired in the 1960s by Gustav Tassell. The frame of the chair in very good condition showing expected minor surface scratches, abrasions and minor isolated areas of discoloration consistent with age and gentle use. The lower portion of the legs with areas of possible minor surface restoration that has been sensitively undertaken. The leather seat has acquired a beautiful patina with age and remains intact without any breaks to the leather. The leather with some rubbing to the surface finish at the highpoints and edges consistent with one using the chair. A wonderful early example of this iconic form that has retained a beautiful patina throughout.
