Condition

Overall in very good condition. This daybed has been recently professionally cleaned and waxed. This work represents a portion of a larger collection of Robsjohn-Gibbings furniture on offer in this auction that was acquired in the 1960s by Gustav Tassell. The frame of the daybed in very good condition showing expected minor surface scratches, abrasions and minor isolated areas of discoloration consistent with age and gentle use. The leather seat with a nice acquired patina from age. The leather presents with some minor dryness, rubbing to the surface finish at the highpoints and edges consistent with one using the chair. There is an area of minor discoloration along the proper right side which is visible in the catalogue illustration. The leather with one piece that was become detached from the frame, and could easily be restored. The leather seat with some looseness from the frame as a result of use. A wonderful early example of this iconic form.
