Description
- Ludvig Pontoppidan
- Low Table
- East Indian rosewood and glazed stoneware
Condition
Overall in very good original condition. The glazed ceramic tiles present with a more saturated color palette when viewed in person. The stoneware is in excellent condition and appears undisturbed. The glaze work across the top of the table varies from high glaze to a more muted glaze, which adds a depth beyond the superb coloration and forms of the individual tiles. The rosewood frame creates a wonderful framing device and a striking contrast to the stoneware elements. The wood selection is heavily striated showing wonderful depth in the figuring. The wooden elements with some small and minor surface scratches and abrasions consistent with gentle use. This is an advanced work by the artists that presents beautifully and is far more impactful when viewed in person than it appears in the catalogue illustration.
