- Grey schist
the fine panels carved with three scenes from the life of Buddha: the birth of Siddhartha by Queen Maya with attendants, Maya at center standing in elegant tribhangha grasping a branch with her raised right arm; the Great Renunciation depicting Siddhartha on his steed Kanthaka, the hooves of the horse held aloft by divine beings; and the lustration of the Buddha's empty throne, surrounded by disciples and attendants, all with finely carved architectural and foliate elements
