Description

  • POTTERY
  • 29cm., 11 3/8 in. high
by Lambertus van Eenhoorn, elaborately modelled with nine spouts issuing from a flattened oval shaped body, flanked by open mouthed wyvern handles forming two further spouts, painted in tones of green, blue and iron red, resting upon a domed rectangular foot painted with cartouches depicting fictitious animals, LVE mark over E 12 in underglaze-blue, some restoration

Condition

There are areas of over-painting to the rims of four of the flower holders in the back row, the fifth one (second from right) has been completely over-painted. There are some typical chips along the edges which has resulted in some glaze loss.

An identical example of this form by Lambertus van Eenhoorn, from the Glaisher Collection, painted in monochrome blue with two winged putti, is in the Fitzwilliam Museum, acc. no. C.2423-1928.
