A blue and white potiche and cover China, mid-17th century

of ovoid form, set with white metal handles, the exterior painted with scattered floral sprays, similarly decorated to the domed cover

The potiche is in very good condition. The mouth is possibly lightly ground down. There are light scratches, surface dirt, and minor glaze firing imperfections. The cover has a 1x0.5cm chip and general fritting to the rim, there are short firing cracks to the underside of the cover. The metal mounts may be later replacements.
