Description

  • 20cm, 8in diameter
Jupiter (disguised as Diana) and Calisto, in the distance to the right, Diana discovering the pregnancy of Calisto, later wood frame

Condition

Three or four tiny holes or splits at high embossed points, hanging hole plugged, traces of gilding, some general wear but pretty good condition overall

An example of this scene of circa 1608 in lead, attributed to Paulus Van Vianen, is in the Schloss Museum, Berlin (its companion Calisto chastened by Juno, is in the Rijksmuseum).
