Catalogue Note

The world leading watch brand Rolex, was founded by Hans Wilsdorf in London in 1905. Over the years, Rolex has produced many time-honoured timepieces and the history of Rolex has been a succession of achievements in watchmaking technology. The world renowned ‘Oyster’ case, set the standard for nearly all sports watches in the market for its resistance against shock and protection to movements even until today. Not to mention the Daytona and Explorer model, which were created for enduring racing drivers and the first adventurers who scaled Mount Everest. The two models have signified high performance, precision in time and innovation expedition since their creation.

Nowadays, Rolex still very much revolves its subsequent watches around the revolutionary prototype model. The consistent refinement enables all models to bear strong resemblance to their progenitors. As a brand that embodies both pioneering spirit and traditions, Rolex has continually sought to improve the exceptional quality of its watches. All watches are assembled entirely by highly skilled watchmakers by hand in Switzerland. Such detail-oriented execution allows all of Rolex movements to meet the accuracy criterion of Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).These remarkable achievements have set the benchmark for all other brands in the watchmaking industry.

As many of the Rolex classic models have become the horologic classic and due to the very small size of Rolex’s production in the early years, it is no surprise that Rolex always acquired top notch position in the second hand market.
