Catalogue Note

With a Cartier certificate, instruction manual, magnifying glass and a presentation box.

In 2007, Cartier introduced the Ballon Bleu, the firm’s new constellation in the firmament of horology, the collection has quickly formed a formidable presence in the iconography of the luxury brand. One year later, an upgraded version, the Ballon Bleu flying tourbillon, was presented at SIHH. It was the first watch with the now distinct aesthetic of multi-layered ruthenium and silver dial that characterizes the High-End Watchmaking collection.

The pebble-shaped case creates an illusion as if the watch is floating magically just above the wrist. The roundness is neither masculine nor feminine, it succeeds in bringing a bit of both to the equation.  A sapphire cabochon decorates the crown which echoes with its name perfectly. Cartier's trademark Roman numerals grace the guilloche dials of the collection. The flying tourbillon combining the elegant spring for the click of the ratchet with the Cartier “C” in the bridges and tourbillon cage which is just visually attractive. Given the curvature of the crystal, a certain degree of distortion also occurs. All the magical qualities added up and made the Ballon bleu flying tourbillon a fascinating timepieces which cannot be missed.
