Description

  • porcelain
of well potted square section, each side decorated with a lobed rectangular panel finely enamelled with branches of prunus, orchid, chrysanthemum or bamboo, referred to as Si junzi ('Four Gentlemen'), framed by a border of flowers and foliage on a pale yellow feathery ground, the edges decorated with sepia ribs simulating bamboo, the interior applied with a turquoise glaze, the base similarly glazed save for a four-character seal mark in underglaze blue, wood stand

Condition

There is some surface wear to the enamelling, especially to the bamboo ribs. The pale yellow enamel has some air bubbles and associated losses. Apart from some minor scratches, the overall condition is quite good.
