Description
of compressed baluster form and oval section, the rounded sides rising from a splayed foot to a waisted neck and an everted rim, the front body carved in high relief with a mythical beast mask suspending a fixed ring, below a low-relief taotie mask band encircling the lower neck, the neck further flanked in openwork by a pair of mythical beast handles suspending a loose ring, the foot encircled with a band enclosing key-fret and chevron motifs with a double-ring centred on each side, the smoothly polished stone of a pale celadon-white tone
Condition
The overall condition of the vase is good with the exception of a nick to the inner footrim that has been polished down. The actual colour is slightly greener than that of the catalogue illustration.
