ink on paper, comprising twelve double-pages between zitan covers of a deep brown tone, the front cover incised with the title Yuzhi Wufutang dui yulanhua shi ['Imperial poem on magnolia at the Hall of the Five Blessings'] and filled-in in gilt, the poem written in seal script framed by acanthus leaf borders, the first two and last double-pages decorated with outstretched bats flying amid stylised lingzhi-shaped clouds, the remaining pages inscribed with a postscript by the official Xie Yong, with two Ex-libris, handwritten notes on provenance and accompanying translation

Condition
One of the covers is broken and one of them has been glued to the paper the wrong way around. One of the double pages have been glued upside down. There is old foxing on the pages with some traces of old mildew. Otherwise, the overall condition is quite good. The condition is stable.

Julien Félix was judge at the court of appeal in Rouen and the President of the Rouen Bibliophiles Society circa 1890. Edouard Pelay (1842-1921) was a reknown bibliophile and book collector in Rouen, founder of the Rouen Bibliophiles Society.
