the compressed globular body supported on a spreading foot, the shoulder moulded with two raised fillets, surmounted by a cylindrical neck with triplet bow-string lines, set with a curved spout and loop handle, the exterior freely carved with a large peony bloom borne on bold leafy scrolls, covered overall in a translucent pale olive-green glaze firing to a russet-brown tone in areas

Condition

The ewer has restoration to a circa 1.5cm., band encircling the body just below the angled shoulder possibly covering a hairline crack, 2cm., of which is visible in this area.
