- Ivory, painted paper, silk
the guards and sticks carved and pierced with figures amongst tiered pavilions in a landscape with trees, the fan leaf painted recto and verso with figures in various court settings, with applied ivory faces and silk robes
Condition
The fan is in good condition. There is minor tear and areas of loss, particularly to the top and bottom edge, and along the crease lines. Some ivory faces or textiles may have been restuck, with traces of glue visible. The ivory guard sticks are in good condition with the exception of minor cracks which is consistent with age. There are minute nibbling along the extremities. The metal hinge is repaired.
