Description

  • porcelain and metal mount
the deep rounded sides rising from a short straight foot to a broad everted flaring rim, brightly and finely painted around the exterior with four phoenix in flight below a band of auspicious emblems, the interior with a phoenix medallion encircled by leafy floral sprays at the rim, the rim mounted with a later European silver loop handle, the base with an underglaze-blue jue mark 

Condition

The metal pierced on either side to accommodate the metal mount. A faint firing crack beneath the rim measuring approximately 68mm. A 2mm chip and several small frits and burst air bubbles to rim. Kiln grit adhered to the centre. Otherwise in good condition with minor firing imperfections.
