Description

  • jade
animatedly carved in the form of a smiling boy with his head turned gently towards his back looking at a Buddhist lion rearing its tail, the beast finely detailed with combed fur, bulging eyes and flaring nostrils, its mouth grasping a long ribbon tied to a brocade ball supported on the boy’s raised left arm, the stone of a pale celadon tone with caramel-russet inclusions

Condition

The group is in very good condition with the exception of one tiny nick to the edge of the ribbon at the top of the carving. It should be noted that the stone is of a slightly more celadon tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
