Catalogue Note

Americana Exchange records no copy at auction since 1967. Anthony Addington (1713-1790) was a physician who ministered to, among others, William Pitt the elder and George III. In this work he proposes adding hydrochloric acid to water to keep it fresh, but this proved to be of little practical value in preventing scurvy.
