Catalogue Note

This ambitious group is an uncommon and sensual scene of three nymphs in languid poses on a rock. Here the artist relishes in the contrasting textures of the hard rock and the soft, supple skin of the nymphs.  Although signed by Caradossi, the vertical and upward swirling composition is a typical feature in Giuseppe Gambogi’s whimsical works.
