Condition
Overall in good original condition with the usual wear to the patina in places especially to high reliefs of the composition and such consistent with handling and touching. Light scratches consistent with age.
Recent good professional restoration to break in the middle of the sword. Almost invisible to naked eye.
Please be aware that the surface shows spotted stains, which we believe are consistent with atmospheric damage from dust and humidity that has dried over time. Those can be professionally cleaned.

Catalogue Note
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Keyser completed his studies in Europe, first with Widmann at the Royal Academy of Munich, and then with Albert Wolff at the Royal Academy in Berlin. He won a silver medal at the Berlin Academy Exhibition in 1876 for his figure of Psyche, now at the Cincinnati Art Museum, and he returned to Baltimore in 1877 to teach at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
