the lobed body enameled with polychrome foliate and geometric ornament, struck with Cyrillic initials IR, probably for Ivan Raspopov, Moscow, 1908-1917, sold together with a Russian gilded silver and shaded enamel tea strainer, Ivan Saltykov, Moscow, circa 1895

Condition

Strainer: Gilding in good condition, but would benefit from a professional cleaning. Some minor losses to enamel, especially on several turquoise "beads" around bowl (some inherent). Some evidence of loss to clear glaze layer on shaded enamel (esp. blue) on back of bowl, consistent with age and use. Sugar bowl: Gilding very bright and attractive, minimal wear except on edges of underside, discolored accretion to interior. Would benefit from professional cleaning. Minimal loss to enamel.
