Catalogue Note
"A body of work known as the '9th Street Rundown' drawings... functions like a typology of painterly gestures. Notably the works interweave appropriated and original forms without differentiation; some were spontaneously made by the artist himself, but others were lifted directly from illustrations in a guide to abstract painting for the amateur."
