Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is evidence of light wear and handling along the edges. The colors are bright fresh and clean. There are faint linear graphite lines visible upon close inspection from the time of execution. There are very faint hairline cracks in the middle of the canvas just left of center which, when viewed under very close inspection, reveal an underlying layer of yellow paint. There are single, light hairline cracks in some of the central oval forms. There is a light drip accretion in the light blue oval element in the 8th row from the bottom, approximately 20 inches from the right edge. There are very minor and unobtrusive surface abrasions visible under raking light. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there is no evidence of restoration. Framed.

Catalogue Note

"There's something always instinctively visually right about nature. There's no difference, to my eye, between looking at a great painting and looking at nature. Because painting, when it's great, has the same immutable rightness, unquestioned rightness, about it." - Larry Poons
