Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. Along the edges of the second panel from the left (in the catalogue illustration) there is evidence of light wear, most notably along the top edge 11 1/2 inches from the top right corner and a few scattered paint losses along the right edge. In the third panel from the left there is an area that is slightly yellowed and fluoresces darkly when viewed under ultraviolet light, which is believed to be inherent to the working method of the artist. Unframed.

Catalogue Note

"I was profoundly under the spell of pre-Renaissance painting during my years in Italy: from Lorenzetti to Fra Angelico. Even to this day, my icono-graphy is a combination of that imagery and the language of Mexican sign painting. This blend allowed me to find my own language to materialize images." Francis Alÿs, 2011
