Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There are two tears along the bottom edge, one is 4 inches from the left edge and is 1/8 of an inch long. The second is 19 1/4 inches from the left edge and is approximately 2 3/4 inches long. Both tears are inherent to the working method of the artist. There is light smudging along the right edge and slight creasing to the paper in all quadrants, which are also inherent to the working method of the artist. There is a slight undulation to the sheet, which has been hinged intermittently to the backing board. There are artist pinholes in all 4 corners. Framed under Plexiglas.

Catalogue Note

"I think, whether you are throwing the pitch or batting the ball, you do have that sense of movement. And for an artist like myself—whose work is about that one moment—that can be a reason I do that. But sports, and baseball in particular in America—there’s a lot more to it. There’s a lot more nuances, not just in the game itself, but that’s also important, too." Raymond Pettibon, 2003
