Condition
Colour:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is softer and tends more towards cream in the original.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. The sheet is attached verso to the backing board in several places. Extremely close inspection reveals an unobtrusive, pinprick sized media accretion towards the lower right side edge.

Catalogue Note
Designed for The Village Voice in 1992, Untitled (How Come Only the Unborn Have the Right to Life?) is among the most distinctive examples of Barbara Kruger ’s consistent approach in which she pushes her practice into the public realm, drawing political debate into art and vice-versa.
Consisting of highly contrasted black-and-white photographs with overlaid captions set in her signature white-on-black Futura Bold font, Kruger’s image makes a provocative and challenging statement. Enveloping the viewer with the seductions of direct address, Kruger’s questioning graphic work highlights "the desire, the fear, the appearances, the intimidations, the advance, the blandishment, the protest, the excuse, the aggressions, the various kinds of music out of which active language is made" (Roland Barthes quoted in: Alexander Alberro, Martha Gever, et al., Barbara Kruger, New York 2010, p. 18).
