Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the rock in the centre of the composition tends more towards a light salmon colour, and the overall tonality is warmer in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. The two sheets are attached verso to the backing board in several places. The vertical edges of each sheet, and lower edge of the right sheet, are deckled. There are artist's pinholes intermittently along the horizontal edges, and one to the centre of each outer vertical edge.

Catalogue Note

“My work is concerned with how to bridge the huge gap represented by drawing and painting. I associate drawing with the internalized activities of making art and looking inward; painting represents the final presentation of these thoughts and interests. Drawings are sketches that in traditional art are hidden most of the time; painting is art’s public face. For me, both have a great deal to do with memory; both enable me to show the inner and the outer aspects of my memories.”
