Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate. Condition: This work is in very good condition. The sheet is attached verso to the backing mount in several places. All four edges are slightly deckled. All collaged elements are stable and secure. Very close inspection reveals some light discolouration to the extreme outer edges of the outer sheet.

Catalogue Note

“I doubt if any artist has shortened the distance between the brain and the hand as much as Twombly. He has also radically shortened the distance between his mind and what stimulates it, putting us on unusually intimate terms with his sources and influences partly by internalizing them so thoroughly and so passionately.”
