Description

the top applied with circular fragments from a larger tapestry depicting willd animals and foliage, and the sides incorporating border fragments
Condition
The tapestry fragments on the top of each stool has ziz-zag machine stitching in areas, for consolidation, and these is some on the sides. There is oxidisation to the browns (visible as the white flecks in the brown areas), and therefore some weakness in some of these areas of colour, on the tops and sides. The stool with the tree trunk and horse leg (top right in the photograph), has some holes and some splits opening up. The edges are fragments of borders, with one vertical join, as visible in the stool in the front of the photograph. There are areas of old hand repairs with thicker threads, some splits and areas of weakness.
