Catalogue Note

Boizot fut l'auteur de plusieurs modèles de pendule incluant soit deux cariatides, debout ou assises, supportant un cadran inclus dans un chapiteau, soit une seule figure soutenant le cadran dans un tambour octogonal. Notre pendule se rapproche de cette dernière version, elle-même inspirée d'une création de Boizot pour Sèvres datant de 1788 (cf. Ch. Baulez, "Essai sur l'oeuvre décoratif de L.S. Boizot" in Louis-Simon Boizot, cat. expo., Paris, 2001, pp.290-292).
