Description

the slender case carved in varied levels of relief with two boys dressed in flowing robes, one leaning on a rock with a grinning face, the other above writing an inscription with a brush on a cliff face arboured with gnarled pines issuing from crevasses, the sky figured with 'cash' diapers, all between two thin borders picked out with small circles, the cap surmounted by a twig of peaches in openwork, the wood patinated to a rich reddish-brown colour

Condition

There may be a small chip to the back end of the brush one boy is using to write on the cliff face. There are some occasional light scratches to the wood surface, commensurate with age and the use of the object, but overall the incense case is in very good condition.
