Description
the brown-lacquered top supported on bracket-shaped sides detailed with ruyi scrolls in openwork and joint by a stretcher forming the base, finely inlaid with iridescent slivers of mother-of-pearl, the top frame with round emblems enclosing alternating mythical beast and peony, reserved on a ground of floral diapers, the sides further inlaid with floral diapers, below a band of lattice and pendent lappets encircling the waist, the base stretchers picked out with squirrels and vines
Condition
There are expected occasional losses and tarnishing to the mother-of-pearl inlays which have otherwise been generally well preserved. There is typical retouching and re-lacquered flakes on the black lacquer ground at the corners of the top. There are flakes and losses to the lacquer and mother of pearl inlays along the edge of the base stretcher. The top has been re-lacquered in brown.
