Description

  • porcelain
of oblong form with a lobed rim, moulded in low relief on the exterior with five iron-red bats hovering in different directions above tempestuous waves enamelled in pale turquoise, a jagged rock detailed in shades of brown and black surging from the sea at the rear of the cup, further enveloped by multicoloured clouds coating the rim, the base decorated with a large whirlpool of crested waves enamelled in pastels of green, the interior left white, wood stand

Condition

There is some expected wear to the enamels to the whirlpool of waves on the underside and occasional minute wear to the enamels in areas on the exterior. The iron red is slightly rubbed on the right wing of one bat hovering at the rim. Otherwise the cup is in good condition and the enamels well preserved.
