of archaistic fanghu form, robustly potted with a pear-shaped body rising from a slightly flared foot to a quatrefoil mouthrim, the neck flanked by a pair of rectangular lug handles, the two main sides moulded with a raised peach-shaped panel, covered overall with an unctuous crushed-raspberry glaze with streaked shades of lavender, the base with a pale brown wash covering an incised seal mark, wood stand

Provenance

An old Japanese collection.

Condition

The mouth has been broken with five pieces off and restuck, including left handle. There are some typical pitting to the surface. The footring has some shallow flakes to the unglazed body. The actual colour is quite similar to the catalogue illustration.
