Description

  • Porcelain
of conical form with deep rounded sides rising from a neatly cut foot to an everted rim, moulded on the interior with a central chrysanthemum flower encircled by a meandering scroll issuing three further blooms and attendant buds among a densely sprouting foliage, the exterior carved with radiating knife-cut ribs lightly impressed with scrolls under the rim, all covered with an olive-green glaze pooling to a deeper tone in the recessed areas, the base and footring left unglazed revealing a light grey ware slightly burnt orange in the firing

Condition

The bow is in good overall condition. There is an iron spot to the interior rim (showing on the illustration in the catalogue). There are a few original specks on the rim and flakes around the knife-pared footring, as well as typical minor occasional potting imperfections in the body under the glaze.
