Catalogue Note

Previously unrecorded, the present work is a wonderful new discovery from Harvey's oeuvre. The location may be the Coombe river, which rises in the hills above Newlyn and flows down through a wooded area to the sea between the fishing port and Penzance. It bears similarities to Stanhope Forbes's Across the Stream, 1897 at this location, which also shows a wooded glade with a river falling in steps through it and two horses drinking in the middle distance.

We are grateful to Professor Kenneth McConkey for his assistance with the cataloguing of the present work.
