Catalogue Note
This delightful picture has been dated by Dr Malcolm Warner to around 1848-1850, shortly after the formation of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. At this time Millais drew a number of sketches of young women in front of mirrors, preparing for balls and parties.
