Catalogue Note

"Liu Wei's disturbing style has been developed painstakingly. His strokes are actually delicate; the seemingly overlapping strong color chunks were painted carefully by light brush strokes... Up until now, I only found Li Xianting's quote of writer Lu Xun that is able to interpret the indescribable art of Liu Wei: 'Brilliant as blossoming peach flowers at the festering wounds'".
