A fine decorative map of the southeastern United States, by Emanuel Bowen (d.1767). Completed before his partnership with Thomas Kitchin, the map is notable for its descriptive notes concerning drainage, relief, mountains, lakes, swamps, Indian tribal areas and settlements, forts, communities and notes on Indian alliances with the French and the English. This map appeared in Harris, Navigantium atque itinerantium bibliotheca (London: 1764), in volume 2 facing page 323, as is noted in the upper right corner of the map.
