Catalogue Note

A fine manuscript  of the second "unpublished" version of "Sweet and Low." Two versions were made in 1847 and sent to Emily Sellwood to choose which should be published. The present version begins and ends:

"Bright is the moon on the deep,
Bright are the cliffs in her beam.
Sleep, my little one, sleep. ...

Father will come to his babe in the nest
With silver sails all out of the west,
Under the silver moon
Sleep - sleep."
