slightly tapering rectangular, the lid inset with two fine rectangular enamelled riverscapes, above an enamel portrait of a lady, the reverse with a miniature portrait on ivory of a lady in deshabillé, the sides with taille d'épargne ornament on turquoise and dark blue enamel, containing ivory tablets and a gold pencil holder, unmarked

Condition

panels with portrait miniatures were probably taken out in order to restore the blue enamel, consequently slightly ill fitting, some losses to white enamel border along nuts when panels were taken out. very charming object otherwise, very fine lid panels and portrait miniature.
