Established in 1820 by John Howard, Howard Ltd (formerly Howard and Sons) has been at the forefront of fine furniture and upholstery for nearly two hundred years. The exquisite quality, especially of the upholstered furniture, has given the Howard Ltd stamp an international renown. Present at the most important European Exhibitions - The International Exhibitions in London in 1862 or Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900, Howard and Sons continually developed new methods and styles of furniture.
Over the course of the last two centuries Howard Ltd has provided commissions to some of the most prominent seats of the English aristocracy. Such as the Vernon family at Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire and the Proby family at Elton Hall in Huntingdonshire, both receiving suites of furniture in the 19th century, cementing their status as one of Britain’s most important furniture makers.
