modelled by J. J. Kändler, as a young woman seated on a scrollwork chair at a table, resting upon a scroll edged base picked out in gilt and applied with flowerheads, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue.

Condition
There is an area of repair and restoration to the top part of the chair back and a restored chip to her dress to the left of the chair. Her pen and her smallest left finger are also restored.

Catalogue Note
The source of this model is the engraving by the French draughtsman Jacques-Philippe Le Bas (1707-1783), after the 1747 painting L'Oeconome by Jean Baptiste Siméon Chardin. A related group of a Lady sitting by a spinning wheel is after he engraving 'Les amusements de la vie privée' by Louis Surugue of 1747, after the painting by Chardin of 1746.
