Description

  • PORCELAIN
  • the teapot: 12.2cm., 4 3/4 in. high
each piece painted,  probably by James Bradley, Junior, with oval portraits of dogs within raised gilt frames and pink enamel leaf and ribbon borders, comprising a teapot and cover, a cream jug and a cup and saucer, puce and green printed factory marks, rare date numeral 75.

Condition

There is a fine hairline crack to the rim of the saucer and cup, both measure 2.1cm long. one foot on the milk jug has been re-stuck

Catalogue Note

James Bradley Junior, born in about 1848, specialized in painting dogs, however his work also includes birds. His father James Bradley Senior was employed at Kerr & Binns in the 1850s and 1860s as a painter, predominantly of stags in landscapes.
