Catalogue Note

Armorial decoration on Liverpool porcelain is rare. This teapot and stand formed part of an extensive tea and coffee service made for Henry Brougham, probably on the occasion of a proposed marriage to his second cousin, Elizabeth Falconer, who was the daughter and sole heir of the Lamplugh family of Cumberland. For a full discussion of the service see Colin Hanley's E.C.C article, ibid.
