Large oblong folio (405 x 510mm.), 12 platinum prints by Johnston and Hoffman (240 x 290mm., or the reverse), individually mounted on thick card, recto only, each photograph with printed title and caption on the mount, publisher's green half morocco gilt over green cloth boards, upper cover with the royal coat-of-arms and title stamped in gilt, minor dust-soiling to edges of mounts, binding rather scuffed at extremities

Catalogue Note

A fine set of photographs of the state train for the Viceroy of India which was constructed in the workshops of the East Indian Railway Company at Lillooah in 1902-1904. The images include a general exterior view of the train, and images of the interior including the viceroy's office, bedroom, bathroom, the dining saloon, kitchen, servant's apartment and guard's compartment.
