Condition Report, Simon Parkes (April 1, 2014): This work is unlined. There are six small reinforcements on the reverse running horizontally in the upper quarter of the picture. There is a small hole in the side of the house on the left, another in the upper left sky, two others in the house in the center, a diagonal break in the canvas in the roof of the house in the upper right and one other small paint loss beneath the clothes line. There is also a hole in the edge of the stream in the lower right, which has no reinforcement on the reverse, and a couple of small losses in the lower left. The work would improve if the canvas were lined, the old broad retouching removed from the small damages, and the surface properly cleaned and retouched, but the painting is in very fresh condition in many respects.
