Description
- Steel, Brass, Walnut wood
blued octagonal barrel with fore-sight, left-side marked WALCH FIRE ARMS_CO / NEW -YORK, right-side marked PAT'D FEBY.8.1859 / 78, 6-chambered 12-shot cylinder for super-posed loads, frame numbered 79 on butt-strap, frame and back-strap engraved with foliate-scroll motif, checkered hammer spurs, case-hardened loading-lever, varnished deluxe walnut grips
6-inch barrel
Recognized as a Secondary U.S. Martial handgun, approximately 200 were produced between 1859 and 1860 at the Union Knife Company in Naugatuck, Connecticut for John Walch.
Inside of frame with assembly numbered 66, that number also seen marked on hammer, cylinder face, under-side of barrel, loading-lever and wedge suggesting the revolver is entirely homogenous inspite of the barrel having the number 78 while the frame is numbered 79.
