Condition:
This work is in very good condition. There is evidence of minor handling to the edges and light canvas draw to all four corners. Close inspection reveals stretcher bar impressions running intermittently throughout. There is a small network of cracks towards the bottom right corner. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.

“The artist is neutral” Dadamaino used to say. Even if the final result of her Volumi is truly three-dimensional, as the light is captured in a volumeric shape, what drove her to create these works was not the desire to effect a mental space, or to find a shape capable of receiving and emitting. In fact it was the exact opposite: to destroy, to remove, to make the means of expression inhospitable, to strip the canvas until the skeleton of the stretcher emerged."
